Samsung S-Series – Best Refurbished Samsung Phones You Can Buy Right Now

Samsung has religiously updated their Galaxy S-series range ever since they were launched back in June of 2010. Since then, the phones have gone to be the company’s most sought-after flagship phone and even become the de facto android phone to get for all these years.  They are among the best phones Samsung ever makes and looking back at the long lineage since then, it is safe to say that they are the only phones that have given Apple’s iPhones a solid challenge for the market through the years.

To fully understand the development of the Samsung galaxy s-series range, let’s look at their most recent devices in the range—the Samsung Galaxy S21 range. Further, we shall check out one of its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S20, because they are the best android devices to get as refurbished phones.

Samsung Galaxy S20

The Samsung Galaxy S20 range came out with three devices, each of them for a different market segment.  The basic Galaxy S20 was the entry-level model of the range, but it was by far the most popular given it had an affordable price tag. Likewise, it had features that made you feel like you weren’t missing out on anything by not going for the pricier Galaxy S20 plus or Galaxy S20 ultra.  These features were enough for what most people would need, but that doesn’t mean Samsung skimped on the features.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is a 5G-enabled phone, comes with a high refresh rate, brilliant screen, and excellent finish to justify its position in the range. It had powerful camera performance and battery life to match.  It was not the 108MP camera from the Galaxy S20 Ultra, but for day-to-day use, it is more usable and realistic given the scenarios that most people use their phones in. You can get the phone either powered by a robust Snapdragon 865 or Samsung’s own Exynos 990 chip and with 8GB or 12GB of RAM (depends on if you choose the 4G or 5G variant). While it may be missing some of the features of its bigger siblings, none of them is an absolute dealbreaker which makes the S20 a nice all-rounder that will ace most tasks you will throw at it. The refurbished Samsung S20 price in Australia starts at $819 AUD  and at this price, it’s an excellent deal.

Samsung Galaxy S21

The Samsung Galaxy S21 was a bit of an odd decision by Samsung on the surface, but if you look keenly, you will understand why this device exists. When flagship smartphone prices are going beyond the $1,300 AUD mark, Samsung made deliberate choices to keep the price down. On paper, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S20 might be the better device of the two but considering updated internals, new battery, and new chip, it makes perfect sense to get the newer Galaxy S21. Coming with the Android 10, full HD+ display, 120Hz screen refresh rate, and the Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100, the value and the power of the S21 are there to be seen.  On release, the 8Gb version cost $1,000+ AUD, but you could get it for much cheaper if you shopped among refurbished devices. With that, you will get great value for an already budget-friendly flagship phone.

Samsung Galaxy S21+

Often the best device in the Galaxy S-series range is not the highest end but a device that strikes the sweet spot between the price and the features. For the case of the Galaxy S21 series, that device is the Samsung Galaxy S21+. For a long time, it was the lowest price of the range that cut it for great features and price, but for this year, we can report that the Galaxy S21+ has successfully dethroned all previous devices.  For starters, Samsung ditched the curved infinity edge display in favor of the much-loved flat OLED.  The phone comes in lighter and thinner than the Galaxy S21 Ultra, and the glass back gives it the premium finish missing from the entry-level Galaxy S21. Despite sharing most of the internal components with the rest of the range, its proportions take in Samsung’s new design wonderfully. The 6.7-inch HD+ display takes advantage immensely powerful Snapdragon 888 chip and 8GB RAM for a snappy fluid performance all through.  The rear cameras are tried and tested from the Galaxy S20 range, and the 4800mAh battery means you have enough power for a day on a single charge. As a device, the Galaxy S21 makes sense if the finish of the basic Galaxy S21 is not up to your standards or you need a bigger screen and better cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra

If your biggest complaint in most recent phones has been the quality of the display, then we doubt you will have any complaints about the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s screen. With A 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED, dual telephoto lenses, Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100, and 12 GB or 16GB of RAM, it is probably the most specced out Samsung S-series phone. Unlike its sibling, where there are obvious trade-offs, no costs were spared in making this the ultimate Android phone. It is the best of the latest S-series range, but for most people, this power is pretty much unusable. Unless with professionals, the other phones in the S-series range make a good case for usability and price point. However, if you were to find a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra as a refurbished device, it is a deal of a lifetime that you shouldn’t miss. If you can’t figure out what to do with the power, we’re sure you will figure it out along the way—it’s just good to have.

Looking at the S-series range, it is clear that it is going to be part of Samsung’s smartphone lineup for a while.  That said, they tend to be expensive; hence it is understandable why their refurbished market is booming. If you want one without having to break the bank, we recommend going for a refurbished one.
